Over the past 14 years, Otto IT has worked closely with this Melbourne-based business to transform their approach to technology. What began with a simple internet reliability issue evolved into a full-scale optimisation of their IT systems, production line automation, and workflow streamlining. The Problem
When we were first contacted, IT wasn’t seen as a strategic asset. It was something the business had, but didn’t fully utilise. Their primary internet connection was unreliable, causing frequent disruptions. Beyond that, there was a general lack of investment in infrastructure, which meant production lines were inefficient and communication across the business was limited.

The Solution
Our first step was to implement a more reliable internet connection, which immediately reduced downtime and improved productivity. We also added failover solutions to ensure continuity in case of future outages.
From there, we helped the business implement Microsoft Navision, ensuring full compliance with their accreditation requirements. Otto provided consultancy throughout the process, including support with selecting the right provider and navigating the tender and quote stages.
Next, we took on the management of their onsite hardware, rolled out fibre internet, and began proactive oversight of their entire IT ecosystem. We introduced Wise, VoIP, and migrated their infrastructure to a data centre for improved reliability and scalability.
Currently, we are supporting their transition to SharePoint and Business Central. These platforms will integrate with key systems to automate processes like stock ordering. We also helped create online forms to streamline internal workflows and reduce manual tasks.
The Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies while implementing new systems. We also needed to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations during each phase of the rollout. Training staff to use new technologies and embrace automation required a thoughtful and supportive approach.
